| And now for something completely different |

Contrary to all previous habits, I'm going to start actually posting (relatively) personal information here while I'm on sabbatical (4/14 - 6/11). A friend did this while he was on his and it was a nice way to keep up with what he was doing. I'll still probably keep them private so if you want to see them, sign up for an account and let me know I should add you to the list. |

And thus yet another innocent unsuspecting soul steps off into the deep, turbulent waters that are LJ. I originally signed up for mine thinking I'd just read friends' posts and keep in touch, and ended up really getting to like the ability to chronicle at least some of my thoughts and experiences. And yes, it actually turns out to be a great way to stay in touch when you're away, or with people who are away.
Enjoy your sabbatical!
Me too. A friend and I were recently speculating on how many people get drawn in with just that idea.
yeah, see the thing is, every time I think that it might be nice to chronicle some of my thoughts and experiences, I realize that I have absolutely no desire in the slightest to do that in a forum where it could easily be exposed to the world. This excursion is purely a result of my laziness and not wanting to repeatedly tell everyone what I've been doing. We'll see how often I actually manage to post. :)
I think this is why my journal is mostly composed of discussions and commentary on things academic and current, with non-damaging personal anecdotes. Anything privacy-destroyingly full of doom just doesn't go on LiveJournal. For the rare lesser incursions, I have a [Personal] filter for people that I'd say the same things to if I saw them in person.
God. So jealous.
I'm glad you're going to start posting. Maybe I'll consider doing that one of these days too. Everything I post is superfiscial stuff that I'd probably tell a stranger.
you can have a sabbatical too! Just spend at least 7 years working 80+ hours a week and skipping vacations for a kafta-esque corporation where you have to step on your teammates in order to get ahead.
Not sure I'll do much better than to post things I'd tell a stranger. After all, I don't control the security here so I am telling strangers even if I put ACLs in place.

well, i'm already here so add me.
Live journal claims another. Good to hear from you stud!! Keep posting, and don't be afraid to call your friends. We like to hear from you. "It puts the lotion in the basket."
Well I have checked everyday, and you did not post as often as you said you would. :( | |
